The Department of Economics has the prime mission of training and equipping the students with basic and advanced knowledge in all aspects of Economics. This is aimed at providing students with a clear understanding of economic theory and its application as it is taught worldwide. In addition, the establishment of the Department was to give the economics discipline at Kaimosi Friends University an opportunity to evolve and increase its research activities in order to contribute effectively to knowledge augmentation in Economics.

The Department operates within the jurisdiction of the School of Business and Economics has developed market driven degree programmes to satisfy strong demand from applicants seeking admission into specialized undergraduate and post graduate economics courses including Bsc in Economics, BSs in Economics and Statistics and Master of Science in Economics. The Department also aims at developing strong linkages with prestigious Universities and other national, regional and international organizations to enhance the quality of teaching, policy oriented research and consultancy. Since its inception, the Department of Economics has experienced unprecedented growth in terms of student population in all the programmes.
